a little communication...

... has got going. from the producer to us, the incorrigibly smitten fans. i have no idea who this young man might be. though yes, would be nice if he shaved his beard. gul khan posted this classic loud promo style seconds-long video on instagram yesterday, 13 march, holi. before that came "asr" hurled at us in pink on yellow.
naturally, one is no longer quite "theek". but i feel almost robbed, somewhat sad. because there is really only one asr. and he doesn't need to jump and pose to get my attention.
whoever you are, advay, and whatever your story... i wait.  because well, how can you not when it's asr.

  1. Indi! I'm not only a fan of Barun and IPPKND but a great fan of yours. I absolutely love your blog and read each one as I am watching the episodes. Have you written anything about Tanhaiyaan? I would love to read your views on them. And yes I am excited for ASR again if it means more Sobti :)

    1. And I do agree with you regarding the Hindi Cinema missing out on such a talented artist. I believe it has to do with Channel bigwigs and their egos because he left the show while it was so popular. I just hope that he breaks into cinema soon so that we see him more often and on big screen. Those eyes <3

  3. hi diana, yes, the channel plays its own games i am sure and hindi movies no longer seem to look for talent. i really can't understand how they feel they can do without it. i believe the film industry is really not doing too well, yet, all you see are sons and nephews and boyfriends and sons of friends entering the scene. once in a way an outsider, i bet they have to do much more than exhibit their acting potential to get there. there are many who are comfortable with that and that's fine. but some aren't... i wonder what the attitude of movie makers is toward such people. seems to be a case of, couldn't care less about talent, as long as you aren't willing to play it exactly our way, we don't see you. sad, considering the business is somewhere supposed to be really about talent. ah well.

silver lining, tu hai mera sunday seems to be doing well in the festival circuit. let's hope it gets him some good connections and maybe an exciting offer too.

    1. I saw THMS last week by chance and it's a lovely movie. I missed seeing him by a day :( But hope to meet him once just to tell him what a great artist he is and how much joy he has brought to us with his acting prowess :) I really hope that the real movie makers like Imtiaz Ali and Vishal Bhardwaj would expose his potential as they make great movies. Barun would be expolsive in a VB movie. Fingers crossed for him always.

btw I'm done with the ipkknd bogs as well as your other stories. When are you writing more stories? Patiently waiting here :)

    1. okay, now i am doing a jig of some wild sort... thank you so much. i sometimes think i'd rather not meet him in person... something sort of gets changed i keep thinking, but if i should meet him, i will tell him to take that talent very seriously and not let mundane considerations come in the way of it. i am muttering to myself all that i would say, and it's becoming an essay hahhhaha. i live in singapore. take care and thanks so much for this conversation.
