episode 338 khushi... you?

the rage and the incredulous look. that's all i really remember from this episode. and then the helplessness...

when you love someone with all your heart, you can make massive errors, but you can equally be absolutely a hundred percent spot on right. that emotion makes you react in ways unfathomable i believe.

if seeing khushi in shyam's arms completely played hell into asr's sense of judgment and he erred hugely, equally did he learn to believe and trust and realise the truth, thanks to that same emotion. and once he knew shyam had messed with both the important women in his life, there was no going back. never again. not even if his beloved sister was aching and begging for a change in his decision.

he knew shyam was bad for her. and he would not let shyam anywhere near di. he in fact was out looking for a sensible, effective way to nurse di back to health.

and anyway, i didn't quite understand the strange collapse of anjali's health with the nurse calling out every next dramatic turn for the worse in monotone. nor did i get the super flap by her family, and all the achhi bahu khana making and competing. was this ipk?

finally of course, instead of going to a doctor khushi went and knocked on the murderer's door because creatives had failed to find a more interesting way to bring shyam back.

as i have said before, i understand the dramatic potential of this "twist" but for that you have to convince me that khushi had areally good reason to do so. alas, you haven't done that. so all it does is makes me think why am i watching this episode.

then i see a man turn on the staircase he had just started climbing (sorry the super tan tan tan entry of your favourite villain and focusing on his shoes just as you have before on asr's did not get me all excited so did not mention it) and his expression changes, and i am glued. all thought stops. could it be not only because the chap is gorgeous to look at, the man we call hotwa, but really because he is in character. that is asr. the man i met in episode one still capable of fabulous out of control anger especially when his heart is involved.

he came down swiftly, chucked his jacket onto a sofa, he had been elegantly carrying it on the crook of his arm... and went right up to shyam and stopped him... hand straight reaching for collar.

to that right correct anger... salaam.

he was not going to tolerate this man in his home. i was glad to see his nani and mami, and later nk and payal, none of them looked pleased at the sight of the man di was pining for no matter how much they cared for her. sense, intelligence, ability to take the right decision... valuable things.

would be good if these instead of mahaanta was the key differentiating property of the achhi bahu format endorsed by television land. a land which is our virtual duniya from eight to twelve every evening.

asr seethed with fury... who brought the abhorrent pretender here he wanted to know.

"answer me, dammit! kissne bulaya tha tumhe?!" how does this actor keep himself so convinced?

after the requisite dramatic pause, came a single word from the nineteen to a dozen girl. even that felt wrong. khushi would never talk like that. she may walk up with head bent, clutching her hands or rush in with a thousand explanations, but that cool smug voice. ugh.

the first time i saw the episode, i think i was more shocked than asr. just as i could never believe shyam had kidnapped asr despite all the huge thunking bricks chucked at us as "hints"... i also could not believe khushi, of all people, would bring him back, no matter how many times they showed her muttering to herself, even saying there might be "anarth" and she could not let that happen.

and why anarth would happen so easily, i didn't get. anjali had a miscarriage and was weak, why this melodramatic handling of the whole thing?

"humne."

he looked up and in his eyes was stupefaction followed by a rush in of emotions... i wonder what they were. horror, anger, sense of betrayal...

"khushi! tumne!!" he sounds flabbergasted.

and the emotions pile up. she does this little let me explain to you thing, hand on his shoulder, holier than thou look on. "arnav ji!" hushed urgent whisper, she knows better tone... he is the one who doesn't samjho, understand. "hamari baat samajhne ki..."

he flinches away. incensed.

a real person. yes, that is what i would do too. there can never be any explanation that will justify this.

and there isn't, no matter what the writer writes.

upstairs in her bedroom, anjali, the offering, has heard "mere shyam ji's" voice and she struggles and heaves to sit up. i watch daljeet... a rather dramatic way about her always. she takes the frame and makes it hers, she has a certain presence. and i really don't mind her acting too. again, it's the writing that doesn't gel.

daljeet does this lover in unbounded need of her lover thing, hurls herself out of bed and rushes limping and falling to her husband. out of the room, down te many steps, dash against the walls then finally face to face with him... hair open and flowing, desperate love in eyes, a joy descending on features... almost manic. she looked beautiful to me. and yes a terrible poignancy in her love for a sick creature. for her love was always true. an emotion that can make you think galat and sahi both.

asr looked on. did a funny helplessness come into his eyes? he could not stop di from falling into shyam's arms. but he did tell shyam, he did not believe him when shyam said he was here only for anjali's sake.

i felt asr's extreme loneliness. he knows what is right. but there's no point. both the women he loves are not with him on this.

and when anjali hugged him, he really couldn't bring himself to return the hug.

no one had taken more care of her than him... today achhi bahu knows better. i think khushi is out there on the steps looking at this scene as had once before gazed at a brother and a sister from outside a temple. and her eyes are brimming over, feeling terrible for her laad governor.

episode 57 maha ankh micholi

ankh micholi, anyone?

episode 57 indeed a maha episode

but first, i would like to start with an invocation to the god of handsomeness and thank her for bestowing upon us this incredible creation of hers which now looks at our heroine with incredulous eyes. sorry, have to gush. really, how good looking must a man be, and that too while he's acting so terribly well in of all things, a daily soap. spiky hair, lean hassled visage, everything motionless, just an eruption of feelings rushing to get to the climax. i could watch this scene for hours, like that other one of him walking into the mazar, long loping stride, inert eyes, black clothes, white bandana. "what the" has never sounded so divine.

it's a good thing that she didn't open her eyes. if she had, the story would have ended right here, no question of not falling in love and crashing into his arms. but today a celestial game was at play, that was devised to keep the story interesting, dynamic, and without end.

as i watched, it was quite obvious that the whole 45 odd minutes were laid out around hide and seek. people missed each other, feelings stole into corners and never got caught, secrets were almost out, phew! but not quite. but why? why this devise suddenly? and that too right across an extended episode? perhaps it was just to raise the tension, keep us glued and use a familiar film technique. or it was ankh micholi, the game of krishna come to visit this drama that has references to him in so many ways right through.

"hai re nand kissore!" the first words of ipk. and if i look back, so many many krishna moments all through. he was in the name of the friend, the sakha, nk; and he was in the name of the villain; his story was told with such charm by the lovely ingenuous khushi; and he and his consort were there when she felt like his patni, and when she didn't; of course, he was always in buaji's words and thoughts, and allusions and traits of him were to be found in many a character during the telling of the tale: as charioteer, as wise counsel, as giver of judgment... maybe, in this ankh micholi too? and if so, it was a fascinating creative leap to keep krishna in the proceedings. interestingly, the child actor who played bubli, used to act as little krishna in her previous role.

krishna played blindman's bluff, with the boys and the girls, his gopis too. minor modification for the ladies: he had to kiss the girls to identify them. rule made by him, of course. there was always a sweet naughtiness, a lightness to the tales of this avatar; a certain empathy, beauty, fun, and delight. you didn't have to worship him to find him engaging. if indeed the hide and seek trick was borrowed from nand kissore, i'd find it really clever.

if not, no matter, still reminded me of him and his lover. especially, loaded as the game was with matters of love. and light and sprightly it went, traipsing and trilling through the bhoolbhulaiya (maze) of shantivan, with concentrated bursts of earth shaking emotion in in between. fantastic balance of light and deep, dhoop chhaaon... hai dhoop sa agar woh, woh chandni raat si hai.

and joining the sport to make it delicately deliciously interesting: curtains. diaphanous, floating, now revealing, now concealing, cousins of the dupatta. that opening sequence was the first sign, i guess. the breeze is telling them both, she's here, he's here, but since both are hesitating before truth, it hides itself, behind the decorator's curtains.

i can't see you, you're not here. but i can hear you... khushi is the first to know, and she's determined not to get caught. what she doesn't know though is there's another thief in the premises. a sick man with ugly intentions and desires.

"mujhe galatiyan aur unhe karne wale pasand nahin," i don't like mistakes and those who make them, says the man in charge, arnav singh raizada, making sure all arrangements for the party are impeccable. a certain terseness in him, so much to do, all sorts of unsettled feelings at home since la's entry, and the constant "ahsaas" of a person, something he swears he has no place for in his life. maybe that's the "galati" you make, and nand kissore is playing a game with you to see if you can find the truth and be "sahi"?

she's constantly worried about being discovered by him, and so misses the the truth right under her nose, or at least next to it. she passes by shyam and anjali's room as they chat standing before the door, but doesn't see him. nor he her. again and again this almost reveal. sometimes in the most interesting layered visuals.

di and shyam have a little tiff over his many admirers. creatives give the pretender krishna little touches of the real and eternal lover. but here is one who has no notion of love, at best what he feels is lust. a pity, his consort isn't radha, a bit of a gandhari our anjali. reminds me of the magnificent queen from mahabharat who wore a blindfold forever because her husband couldn't see and so she decided to suffer with him. just like her, anjali  couldn't see a thing, and shyam again won the ankh micholi round, his prize, a gentle, loving, credulous, "aap bhi na."

in playful vein, creatives bring in stairs from ar office to shantivan, to test us no doubt. was i wrong or was there a curved staircase just behind khushi which i've never seen here? spotting the rakshas, she hides in shyam anjali's room, he passes her and senses... hey hey...

he bumps into someone, "dekhkar nahin chal sakte? tumhari galati ki saza tumhari naukri bhi ho sakti hai." can't you see where you're going, the cost of your mistake may be your job. but sir, was the mistake his or were you distracted... by that sense of a woman?

shyam almost sees her but doesn't. khushi runs helter skelter through the unfamiliar corridors and leaps into a room. one she doesn't know at all, but had at one time thought belonged to the bakri. unfortunately, it belongs to the lion and he is on his way here, his attendant music following him resplendent. our man is thoroughly displeased, is rushing to change.

sanaya was simply brilliant as she ran around frantic looking for a space to hide, then jumped into the wardrobe. only khushi could have done that. something so very specific in that move. the visual space is super crowded these days, so many images, it's rare to come across something original. yet, ipk found new ways of showing things so often. can't remember ever seeing a girl in a cupboard, one eye open, comic air getting giggles going, and then wham... thick, pulse rate quickening passion, can't breathe, a crazy note of romance... and off she goes again, dupatta flying, something really funny and really desperate at once, his khushi... khushi... khushiii making you wonder, making you sad, making you happy. thrilling, wasn't it? yet delightfully light like a perfect souffle, with a little red dupatta flambe. oh that flying streak of vermillion, and him leaping to catch it, just took it all to another plane.

wasn't he supposed to be mad at her? decided to not think of her just a while back. no place for such feelings. she is a part of my past that is over. and yet you just know it when she's around. what's in her that calls out to you? and now she sits inside your cupboard, inside you essentially.

"tum yahan kya kar rahi ho?"
what are you doing here? oh the pain of knowing she isn't here. the grappling with it. all the upheaval. and suddenly, she's before his eyes. of course, he's startled at first, then perhaps a bit angry, but deep down maybe a feeling more forceful is taking root, a feeling of finding his breath again. of sheer relief. the kind that makes you let go inside, leaves you dumbfounded.

when she jumps out, you reach out instinctively, wanting to keep her near, for all your roughness, and anger, the moment she's close you're nonplussed... rabba vey, and she flies off taking advantage of your state of mind. playing ankh micholi with your feelings... now you catch it, now you don't...

and what about her, she'd just said she hadn't returned to delhi for him, but in that long moment that he held her and they looked into each others eyes, why that change of note?

behind the veil of comedy, serious, seething, heated emotion telling its own parallel story.

i needed to pause here for breath and let my eyes rest. and before we resume, a question, was akash wearing the shirt that asr wore the night of faraq nahin padta? nooo.

nani ji notices "mithai ki khushboo kuch aur hi hai." the sweets have a delightful aroma... talk of sweets from lucknow; and dreams of sweet nothings in akash upon seeing payal. of course, mami the sharp eyed notes this dose of sudden sweetness in her son's life and decides it's bad for him, "jo bhi hao e laknow sisters ko out kareka padi." whatever it is, got to get these lucknow sisters out.

asr is tortured, pacing, remembers, "hum aapke nazron se hamesha ke liye door ja rahein hain..." i am going far from your sight forever. khushi yahan kya kar rahi hai? what's khushi doing here, he is immersed in this conundrum. his girlfriend floats in, all dressed up and sexy, how am i looking, she asks getting close. he almost doesn't see her. the eyes are on the one who's flown, that's whom they seek. when his sister walks in, he asks, irritated and hassled, forgetting his resolve to not let anything disturb the cadence of his sister's big day, "di, khushi yahan kya kar rahi hai?" what's khushi doing here? if i knew she'd bagged the order, i'd have cancelled it. really, so that's why you ask the same question again and again. shatir asr totally stumped.

in another hide and seek ploy, shyam is told by anji about khushi. when she turns around, he's not there. he hasn't heard a thing. months later, the same would happen the night of the betrayal, asr would tell di all only to find she's passed out. hasn't heard a thing. it will lead to chaos, but tonight, all it leads to is a "yeh bhi na."

another echo from the future in his announcement to the guests, "meri zindagi ke do sabse important log... di aur jeeja ji." the two most important people in my life, di and jeeja ji. there will remain two most important people in his life, just not in this combination.

a cascade of neatly edited scenes peek into hidden thoughts and faces. will khushi see shyam? will shyam see khushi? will anjali find out? creatives are having much fun obviously. and in the middle of all that a strange surprise from la. she obviously is completely blindfolded, no idea who her target audience is. a neatly packed episode with all the bits in place for the next climax.

in the middle of all this mami is being really rude to khushi and payal, treating them like waiters. mami ji... aap bhi na. anyway, payal drops juice and khushi leaves the room to find tissues at the poolside, relieved at the thought of escaping his nearness.

but looks like that isn't going to happen. he has seen her and he follows her out. "tumne toh kaha tha ki lucknow chali jaogi..." you'd said you'd go away to lucknow, he barks at her.

she's shocked, but opts to remain mute... not a word since he found her in the cupboard. she is just too disturbed to say anything i guess. she tries to walk past him without a word. he catches hold of her arm in a tight grip. yet again. she stands there still, taut, tense, eyes confused, unsure. finally, in measured undertone, "aap badtameezi kar rahen hain." you're being discourteous.

"kyunki badtameezi ke elawa aur koi bhasha tumhe samajh mein nahin aati hai." because you don't understand anything but this sort of language, he is in a nasty nasty mood now.

and he goes for it.

"main tumse kuch pooch raha hoon..." i'm asking you something... so intimate the voice, like it's touching her. "tumne toh kaha tha ki lucknow chali jaogi... waapas laut kar nahin aogi," you'd said you'd go to lucknow, not come back. my heart shivers/leaps at his voice, that wapas nahin aaogi is killing him somewhere... "phir yahan kya kar rahi..."

you'd said you'd go away... so why are you here... you'd said you'd never come back... what are you doing here... if you go away on a summers's day... again the sadness of the song hidden behind the anger of the voice.

but if you stay... my wayward mind adds in...

"majboori thi... tab bhi... aur ab bhi." had no choice, then too... now as well. khushi is no longer running, skipping, jumping, acting cute, nothing, some part of her that no one else touches but this man, is touched again. only for him her voice grows deep like this, mature, poised, a woman vis a vis a man.

"aap hamara haath chhodiye warna..." leave my hand...

"warna?" or else?

"warna kya kar logi tum?" what will you do?

"aap asr honge aapke ghar mein." you may be asr in your own home...

a khushi like flip into a rash statement looking for a solid repartee to shut this terrible man up.(a little break for respite by the creatives for us panting viewers?)

"mera hi ghar hai." it is my home.

if i hadn't spent all the money, i'd have died before coming here to the home of people such as yourself. khushi returns to the seriousness of the moment.

"pehle bhi tum hum jaise logon ke yahan hi kam karti thi."
you used to work for people like us before too. "aur waise bhi, tum jaise log toh paison ke liye..." and anyway, for money, people like you...  he stops as she looks up.

tonight he doesn't complete that sentence. something in her gaze, angry, gaining a power of its own, stops him. the intensity in both was of another order. out in the open. ankh micholi ceased.

la walked in. no one practically noticed her.

khushi walked out without a word. but what's this?

her payal slipped off as though it had a mind of its own. he saw it.

one day, a key had slipped off from his hand, so they could meet again. now this payal. what will this bring? and why is it that everything around and on them wants them to find each other, yet these two... and he turned and looked back.

this is the first time we see khushi in red with asr by the pool. there will be many times more when the colour of passion will attend their love story unfolding here. today's red was definitely chilli padi red. those who've lived in south east asia will know the power and bite of this deadly chilli, small, red, sharp, and has it got oomph. you don't need a little or long black dress to be an absolute bomb. i can't live without my chilli padi, looks like asr is beginning to catch the ailment.

episode 316 the circles of phere

there was a story in every lift of  floaty buoyant strands of hair, in the waft of air as a flustered girl walked passed an amused man, in a little pause before laughter came on a broken bed, in eyes going tender and soft before cheek was pressed into a back. in little smiles, in quiet looks, stories everywhere. as a man advanced upon a girl slowly his hand straying up, wonder what lay in its intention, its promise, it almost stopped one's breath.

and yet it felt like an episode which had a clear motive to take the viewer toward a destination. no, not sheesh mahal. remarriage.

as if everything was working to make sure we get there, without asking too many questions. i wonder when it was decided that it had to be a full blown remarriage and not a lovely private ceremony of dedicating a feeling between asr and khushi, one that took away the pain of a terrifying night from a young lovely wife and her devoted dutiful husband.

i wondered to if what asr told aman on the phone was a hint slipped in by the writer as to the situation at hand... "
research pe zyada dhyan mat dena hamare figures achhe nahin hain. unhen facts batao." don't stress the research, our figures aren't good... tell them the facts. was research saying things not picked up by the facts? the trp? okay i won't dwell on that, since a very amused eyebrow might ascend and a crisp smart voice quip, "tum kitni intelligent ho!"

no, that would not be good for the already constrained breathing, let's dwell on the scene that established what a wonderful husband arnav singh raizada was. for that's crucial to the design of remarriage. because he is the way he is, because he will not let any slight touch his wife, he will agree to the marriage... so it's important we have his character underscored. for this payal was chosen. and she was a pretty neat choice. i have always found deepali and payal very attractive in their own way. payal always spoke up, and believed in doing the right thing, no matter what. and as she spoke i wondered if payal felt a little sad at the choice of husband she had made. one who rarely spoke up for her.
"dadi ji ka chattis ka akhda dikha, lekin arnav ji jka ganit nahin dekha?" you saw dadi's enmity but you didn't see arnav ji's reaction?

khushi gave one of the first little smiles... pleased is she with arnav ji. never seen him like that, she said.

"sabke samne kaise bole the woh... khushi hamari patni hai, woh chahe jo kar sakti hai, jahan chahe ja sakti hai... hume bahut achha laga. tum bahut khush naseeb ho khushi ki tumhe arnav ji jaise pati mile," how did he say before all... payal did an asr... khushi is my wife, she can do as she pleases, go where she likes. i liked that very much, said payal a somewhat wistful note in her voice, you're very lucky to that you got a husband like him.

that last sentence had me feeling suddenly a little sad for women in our world. so dependent is our life on the man we marry, for patriarchy the way it is practiced among us, essentially robs you of your significance, your individual status in society. as long as marriage means a girl will have to leave her home and become a part of the man's home and family, this unequal terrain will remain. you are somehow always at the mercy of your pati, he holds the real power, so if he's a baddie, had it. but if he's a decent strong man, you're fine... you are lucky. wonder what would change if it happened the other way round and men went to their in laws' homes, or better still if both stepped out and made an independent unit in which families from both sides had equal place and love and honour. but for that the whole universe will have to change and i will surely not be there to see that day.

yet a man like asr makes me think, such a day may be possible... even if trp will play with his ideals and dreams.

next in design was a spiking of physical desire. a khushi completely dreamy and in love, touched with beautiful sanka floated up the stairs and went to her room. where of course, a man stood at the wardrobe riffling through his clothes. a sight that had saanse ruk jaaygi effect on many. that lovely lovely reaching out and holding the man who loves her, honours her and protects her, that terribly evocative pressing of a cheek to his back, and his bemused response, wondering what''s come over her.

she said, forgive me, poignant and thrilling his you don't have to ask for forgiveness for anything.
but she is here flirting really, did she know that? she had found a picture in the store room earlier, and she has scene him without his clothes. how instantly alert the viewer must have been.

then came the cute play over a photograph. nothing is chosen by a director by accident. a little baby without a stitch of clothing, legs wide apart, and stuff visible... even in a fuzzy long shot, the viewer will connect all sorts of things, the mind is a crazy place, before you know it you think things. and that was wanted. then just to make sure nothing got lost, that leap onto the bed and a breaking... palangtod... bead breaking, again many connotations there.

this was needed if khushi had to add two and two and make jalebi pure.

then opened the whole story of saat phere. via, of course nand kissore, yes today krishna had to be part of the play, the baby too has bal gopal elements and from the moment dadi ji has appeared bal gopal is centre stage.

the character chosen to bring up saat phere and give it credence while explaining it, was nani, the beloved matriarch. it's janmashtami again, and everyone is preparing things for the prayers, akash included. of course, not asr.

nani pondered the eternal love of radha and krishna
, "unka pyaar toh duniya se upar raha," their love was above the mortal world. "unki pyaar ko kauno naam ki zaroorat naahin rahi..." their love didn't need a name. a beautiful thought. did the writer slip it in unable to come to terms with where he had to take the script?

"na kabhi unhone saath phere liye..." they never did the saat phere, the seven sacred circles around the fire at most hindu weddings (i must point out, not all).

instantly, khushi remembered her wedding, "phere nahin liye the... matlab shadi bhi nahin hui?" didn't do pheres... means they weren't married?
this is stretching it a bit. khushi who knows so much about krishna, as we all know from last janmashtami, doesn't know radha and krishna weren't married?

she does, and here she is reacting to the saat phere idea, how marriages are incomplete without it... which means her marriage too is incomplete. but i thought she knew all along that certain things had not happened at her wedding and had now come to accept him as her husband. in fact, she was delighted at the way he was defending her right as his patni, she was hugging him, flirting with him, desiring him. hmm, i am confused by this writing.

sanaya chose a highly sanka inflicted khushi to convey her confusion. which was further compounded by mami ji and hp conversing about a broken bed... haan, what was being done on the bedwa that it broke? was cricket being played on it? say cricket and i think fair play... alas nothing is quite cricket at the moment.

the man winked at her.

she turned to puddle and whizzed off, he looked at her as she passed him. a story just there.

"okay... kya nahin hua..." only barun's asr can be that droll and heart attack giving. khushi is in frenzy... um so she just now remembered the circumstances of her marriage, i really am shaking my head... that marriage none of us could forget but she did. strange. and having remembered, she instantly went to the high drama conclusion: our marriage isn't complete... what exactly is a complete marriage? either it is a wedding or it is not. writing struggles to make sense of this whole thing and fails.

but what the, eyebrows are shooting up at "hum dono pati patni ki tarah rah rahe hain..." and one has to stop thinking.

we are living like husband and wife.

"that's because hum pati patni hain?" that's because we are husband an wife, a voice rises and falls setting off heart beats racing.

"aur yeh ahsas tumhe achanak kyun hua?" and why did you suddenly have this feeling? shatir asr, same question as viewer.

"sabse mahatwapoorn phere nahin hue hain..." the most important thing, pheres aren't done, so shadi ain't done. like that, magic, it was brought in and made into a central angst.

"ek pati patni jo bhi karte hain humne kuch bhi nahin kiya..." we haven't done all the things a pati and patni do... what does that line even mean?

anyway, he decided to play a bit... yeah, time to do what pati and patni do... i have to smile and gosh, that intimate teasing.

as she reeled off the many rituals of a wedding, he waited. at suhag raat he went "yup."

while asr played havoc into kkgsr and me with all the murmurs and suggestive pauses and pounces... a part of me wondered was a wrecked suhag raat the only way to take story to remarriage.

"that's it... tum kitni intelligent ho!" no one can forget that moment, and that indulgent sexy very male flirting. condescending devil is this pati, but he elevates you practically with it, you know you sit bang in the centre of his heart and he'd do anything for you. ah such contrary communication.

"suhag raat..." she repeated.

"yeah... that one. but we'll start backwards... shuruwat suhag raat se karte hain..." we'll start with suhag raat. i had giggled hysterically the first time. smart writing and of course super acting. think writers wanted to have some fun while the painful process of reworking track went on. and nothing is more pleasure giving than writing a classic asr khushi moment.

this was absolutely that.

she was so so flustered. that desire rising up again and the trepidation at the very thought of the wedding night. and he had to get after her a bit.

she walked backward, he forward, now he knows that is what will happen.

"haan matlab nahin matlab suhag hag raat..." yes means no means suhag raat, said she incoherently.

"c'mon khushi main tumhe kha thodi jaaonga?" i'm not going to eat you... oh how they pushed the desire angle. the second time he has said this to her...

"it's a deal! kal raat hamari suhag raat hai."

"nahin!"

on the first watch, i had really thought, they would work out the issue of pheres differently and there would be the most wondrous suhag raat.

thoughts

~
that opening scene, there was so much of a brother, an intense emotional man there... i particularly loved his urging his sis to forget the past as she often told him to... something so asr in the way he said, "di, jo kuchh bhi hua... bhool jao usse."

~
"bhashan nahin bhasha!"... nice touch. even dadi ji is not immune to nk our very own nand kissore's ways. he gets through to her and frazzles her too.
~ please note manorama listens to bhajan and not trashy songs with her earphones on...
