flashback 34

this business of he's thinking of her, she of him, with those carefully selected and edited flashbacks, not a unique device... most hindi soaps use it... but these guys just got it so right. on a rewatch too they're beautiful. there was some sort of a vibe between the two actors, it rides every frame i feel, making them say many things, things below the surface, things a khushi and an asr tell each other, feel, share, get thrust into, can't run away from, want desperately... there are so many emotions in there. what say. just with a key and a couple of beads, again nothing new, such a hauntingly crafted moment. each memory carefully chosen, and their expressions as if tied to each other, in a taut dance move or something. she remembers call him and him turning, cold eyes. she remembers too he was nasty as hell but she wants to meet him one more time, he keeps thinking of that moment when he'd behaved terribly, lost control, and the eyes of a girl turning slowly around.

do lafz and all those edits

a fairly ordinary hindi movie song, a difficult to suspend disbelief scenario (even if a competition for sangeet one can imagine, that whole set up... the partner doesn't turn up, so a tycoon who yells and does not dance, suddenly not only steps in to help the damsel in distress but is also on point, not a step or tug not on cue or clumsy), mysteriously changing jackets, but who cares. the lights have gone dim, a girl with unusually long (and false) eyelashes has looked up and there's a man the spotlight has just picked up. he wears a black shirt and waistcoat. i am swallowing hard.

teri meri yours and mine
meri teri mine and yours
prem kahaani hai mushkil
our love story is difficult
do lafzon mein in a couple of words
yeh bayaan na ho paaye
it can't be told

the look in 37

episode 37/12.07

episode 37/12.17

so, kizh, i had to watch it from the top. did you notice that the takkar scene has a major continuity issue? the top shots have sindoor all over his right shoulder and hair, the normal angle shots have no sindoor on shoulder and just traces on his hair. i spent a lot of time staring and pondering which set got taken first... never mind, everything looks khatarnak and even when the suv came into frame my stomach went on a plunging spree.

some more edits... and here's episode 37 hawa mein udta jaye

beautiful together

lyrical, flowing, hypnotic... and have you noticed when these two are together there's nothing dark there, no seamy side to sensuality... it feels lit and clean and just beautiful in its truest sense. my take on episode 248...

in a blink... 307

in an instant no one knows what might happen. perhaps a whole lifetime of loving.

khatarnak chem... 307

infuriating man totally in love, angry biwi wants to throttle him... why must love be predictable when it can be asr khushi.

i found myself doing edits of this scene as he led her on and she lost it and yet tried to cope. the timing between the two... perfect. slapstick stops feeling like slapstick and you roll about laughing, the sexiness of it all getting you... har baar. khatarnak indeed is this chemistry.

off screen mayhem

was watching the teri meri sbs segment... fell in love with some of the shots and made edits. i have to say that the off screen seemed to capture a wild abandoned feel, a sexuality which perhaps even the show didn't.

barun and sanaya were horsing around, talking rubbish. they were both in perfect sync, tired and hungry and being silly. astonishing to imagine that these two can be the two heated steamy dancers on the floor, that you can do this and that in the same time span and continuity. and yes, there was a whole lesson in heat and nuclear fission in the teri meri shots. volcano erupting. somehow the dissonance between them on and off camera was not unpleasant at all. paradoxically, it was really sexy.
