episode 24 rain inflamed

i'd forgotten how incredible the episode after the rain hug was. each and every sequence packed and beautiful. barun the actor and asr the character, both in such form, your dil and dimaag just had to surrender. every scene of barun's, flawless. mind you, beautiful voice modulation was just about beginning, voice still a tad flat at this point, but i do find it sexy. the body language, something else. the way he grips her shoulder, then notices and lets her go, pushes her in fact as though he can't believe he is holding her; some part of him is losing control, it wants to hold her, yet he mustn't want to, complex simmering emotions, with just one gesture he conveys so much.

any director who works with him should be whooping with joy at the mine of talent he has just got himself. needs to be coaxed a bit, but when it gives, does it give.

face is like a river, constant flow of emotions, and when it's still you feel the emotions murmuring beneath. how can anyone with so little dialogue, though all key and insightfully crafted, have created an entire character in just 24 episodes of 20 odd minutes each, that should someone tell you asr did this, you'd be able to say "nah he couldn't have", or "oh yes, that's like him" or "he did? how could he?"is way beyond me.

i can't remember an actor with such a mobile face or such powerful body language. yet understated and real. he has a feel of the greats, and i am completely sober when i say so.

that minute eye movement, the slightest shift, within that a change of expression, quintessential barun. does anyone do it better. wish i could show you how his finger held her slight shoulder, you could almost feel their pressure.

  3. Hi. Indie. Just taking up on your comment about any director who works with Barun should be overjoyed. It seems to me that ipk brought out the the very best of his acting skills and as much as I adore him I can't seem to draw a comparison with his other works and I'm not saying he didn't give excellent performances but there's a recessive spark. Would like your take on this. BTW im from S.A. And am visiting India for the first time in Dec and my trip is solely inspired by ipk. Still watch episodes on utube.

    1. hi :) happy new year. i agree asr is his best to date. nothing has come close, though tu hai mera sunday has a lovely portrayal of the laid back, sweet arjun by him. and in some episodes of baat hamari pakki hai, he's really cute. he was very young then, and really touching in many scenes, also appealing. in a pretty bad film called main aur mr right, he was good, his role was small, but i liked the way he did that character. he has =great potential, hope he finds his director and his story and his lead again.

  4. Hi Indi. I'm a South African about your age and I just love ipk and your analyses of it. Must say I've learnt quite a bit of Hindi thanks to your translations. I've seen Barun in some of his other works and although he gave great performances, the spark that he had in ipk is lacking. You mentioned that he would be any directors dream be cause of his immense talent and I also agree but I wonder if you could maybe throw some light of his performance in other works. I still watch ipk daily and am visiting India for the first time in Dec and my trip is solely inspired by IPK.

    1. hi, great to meet you. so happy you enjoy my writing and it's helped with grasping hindi. i too think ipk is his best. i did like him a lot in tu hai mera sunday too. certain epsodes of baat hamari pakki hai, an older serial, have very nice work by him, there's one where he sings while he's dead drunk, a few others... nice, but yeah asr is above all that. if you've seen main aur mister riight, a pretty bad movies, but he did he was good. i think after ipk, barun hasn't really had much success with his work... depresses me, because he is truly talented. so good to hear ipk took you to india, hope it was a good trip.
